Palm Sunday

Palm Sunday marks the beginning of Holy Week, the most sacred time in the life of the Church.

We begin with joy—welcoming Jesus into Jerusalem with palms and praise. Yet very quickly, the tone changes. We are invited to walk with Him not only in celebration, but also in suffering.

A Journey of the Heart

Palm Sunday is not just about what happened long ago—it is about us.

The same voices that cried “Hosanna” later shouted “Crucify Him.”
And somewhere in that crowd… we find ourselves.

This day gently asks:

  • Is my faith only for moments of joy?
  • Do I remain with Christ when the path becomes difficult?

The Way of Christ

Jesus does not enter Jerusalem with power or pride.
He comes in humility. He comes in peace.

And then… He walks towards the Cross.

This is the heart of our faith:

  • Love that serves
  • Love that sacrifices
  • Love that remains faithful, even in suffering

A Time to Pause and Return

Holy Week is an invitation—not just to attend, but to enter deeply.

Let this be a week:

  • to slow down
  • to pray more deeply
  • to return to God with sincerity

In the silence of this week, we begin to understand:
God’s love is not distant—it is personal, sacrificial, and real.

Walk Together as a Parish

At St Ann’s Catholic Church, Kingston Hill, we journey together as one family.

You are warmly invited:
Come as you are.
There is always a place for you.

Let us walk with Christ—from the joy of Palm Sunday…
to the silence of the Cross…
and finally, to the light of the Resurrection.

Homily – Palm Sunday

I want to tell you a small story…

A donkey once walked into a city.
People were shouting,
Hosanna! Hosanna in the highest!(Matthew 21:9)

They spread their cloaks…
they waved branches…
they honoured the path…

And the donkey thought,
“Ah… this is for me.”

He lifted his head a little higher…
walked a little prouder…
believed a little more…

The next day,
he walked the same road again…
same steps… same pride…

But this time—
no palms… no praise…

Only stones.

And suddenly the donkey understood…
It was never about him.
It was about the one he carried.

My dear brothers and sisters…

This is our life.

When we carry Christ—
His love, His humility, His forgiveness—
the world will recognise something different in us.

Not because of us…
but because of Him.

But the moment we begin to think,
“It is me… my success… my goodness…”

The road changes.

Jesus walked through villages…
He healed the broken…
He touched the rejected…
He gave dignity to those forgotten…

And that goodness followed Him.

That is why the crowd gathered.
That is why they shouted.

Because goodness…
always returns.

But the same world…
the same crowd…
can also turn.

Judas… the leaders… the voices…
all rose against Him.

And still—
He remained the same.

“Father, forgive them…” (Luke 23:34)

So the question today is simple:

Am I the donkey…
or am I carrying Christ?

Because when I carry Him—
even if the world changes,
even if people change,

my path…
remains steady.

Let us not seek the praise…
Let us carry the Presence.

Because in the end,
it is not about who we are…

It is about
Whom we carry.
